2013 has been an interestingly mixed bag. A burglar Spiderman-climbed into my apartment last January, and yes, I haven’t let it go and I still hate him to a degree I’d not previously thought possible. Then again, I met so many awesome, kind, and crazy-talented people in the lingerie and fashion industries, both virtually and in real life, that their awesomeness will hopefully one day blot out the hatred from my soul and make me a kind, sunshine-filled person again.
I became a certified bra fitter thanks to Ali Cudby’s wonderful FabFit™ Academy, and if you’d asked me a mere two or three years ago if I saw THAT one coming, I’d have looked at you in no small degree of alarm.
I even fulfilled a childhood dream of making a three-tiered wedding cake, and I now feel emboldened to tackle ever bigger– wait, maybe not too much bigger, let’s say more complicated– baking projects.
I received not one, but TWO Sweet Nothings-themed handmade Christmas gifts this year, and as soon as I’m able to take pictures of them properly, I will share them. They are glorious and I cussed a whole lot when I opened the first one, because apparently all the positive adjectives and clean language at my disposal just weren’t powerful enough to communicate the degree of my love for it. It is THE SHIT, y’all. See? I can’t help it.
I very rarely make Official New Year’s Resolutions, because I have a crippling fear of failure and tend to freeze like a deer in headlights when I write down personal challenges and then attempt to overcome them [see: my dating history, the last ten years of], but I have to say that I’m really, really excited to see what happens in 2014. I turn 30, for one thing, which I’m feeling weirdly relaxed about, and I have a tentative acting gig lined up, which will be fun/mildly terrifying, but mostly there are so many things happening in my lingerie world that I just can’t wait to see unfold and share with you. Things like boudoir photography! Some gorgeous custom-made lingerie from one of my favorite indie designers! Plans for possible expansion and even a makeover for the site! The return of Lingerie Fashion Week and the upcoming trade shows in February! A crossing-my-fingers-for-it overseas trip! And a certain VERY exciting announcement from my favorite new brand of 2013, coming our way in January. Hint:

commented, or even argued. I’m continually taken aback by how creative, enthusiastic, increasingly diverse, and lovely the lingerie community is, and how much damn fun I have participating in it. Thank you to the PR reps who’ve reached out to me, the designers who’ve started conversations, the retailers who’ve asked for feedback, and the readers who’ve piped up with questions and suggestions– I have learned SO MUCH from you, and I hope your 2014 finds you well and happy. I also hope it finds you good underwear, because obviously.
